Set up get-off alerts

MrtGo uses live location to power get-off alerts. Foreground alerts need location access while the app is open; background alerts need location access that keeps working when the app isn't on screen. Here's how to set it up on each platform.

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll to MrtGo and open it.
  3. Tap Location.
  4. Choose While Using the App for foreground get-off alerts.
  5. Choose Always if you want alerts to continue while MrtGo is in the background.
  6. Turn Precise Location on so station-distance checks are accurate.
  7. Go back to MrtGo's settings, tap Notifications, and turn Allow Notifications on.
  8. Enable sounds and alerts so “Prepare to alight” and “Get off now” reminders are visible.
android

Android

  1. Open Settings on your Android phone.
  2. Open Apps, then choose MrtGo.
  3. Tap Permissions, then Location.
  4. Choose Allow only while using the app for foreground alerts.
  5. Choose Allow all the time if your device offers it and you want background alerts.
  6. Return to MrtGo's app settings and open Notifications.
  7. Allow notifications. Android 13 and newer require this for visible tracking and get-off alerts.
  8. If your device limits background apps, set battery usage for MrtGo to Unrestricted or Not optimized.
